HAIR REMOVAL
LASER
At OMORFIA Beauty Institute, we specialize in laser hair removal. All our beauticians are trained and experienced to serve you well.
Unwanted hair growth can be embarrassing for anyone. And while there are plenty of hair removal options out there, they are not always worth it. Shaving creams and depilatories can be a quick fix, but they only remove hair on the surface, not to mention the risk of nicks and adverse skin reactions. Waxing and hair removal can provide longer lasting results, but the treatments are painful and time-consuming. Where does this take you?

FAQs
-
Am I a good candidate for this treatment? / Will this treatment work for me?Hair removal treatments are for people who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on their face or body because they are tired of conventional methods that only give temporary results. For safety reasons, you may not be able to undergo diode laser hair removal if you have/are: A history of keloid scars Active infection or history of herpes simplex in treatment area Use of depilatories or other hair removal treatments, such as waxing, epilation or electrolysis, within 6 weeks prior to treatment Hypersensitivity to hydroquinone or other bleaching agents Use of oral Accutane within 6 weeks prior to treatment
-
I have darker skin – can I still do this treatment?Laser hair removal treatments can be performed on darker skin, even tanned, using different settings, as the risk of discoloration is higher (since darker skin contains more pigment). We will perform a test and wait 48 hours to assess your skin's reaction. Thus, we will determine which treatment parameters are most appropriate to use for your skin type.
-
How many sessions will I need to see results? Most people get 6-8 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each person's skin type, hair color and texture, and the area being treated.
-
How often should treatments be performed?Treatments are performed 4-8 weeks apart for laser hair removal.
-
Do I need to do anything to prepare for treatment?Shave 24 hours before your appointment. Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply lotions, creams or makeup (if you are having treatment on your face) before your session and stop using any products that may irritate your skin 2-3 days before. Remove all jewelry around the area to be treated. Our technicians will also ask you questions about your medical history, so it is useful to have this information.
-
How long does each treatment session last?It depends on where you get the treatment - one upper lip will be much faster than both legs.
-
What does the treatment look like? You will feel some heat in the area, and it will feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin, but this will only last for a short time, thanks to the real-time cooling system that kicks in immediately to help to minimize discomfort.
-
Does it hurt? The applicator has a built-in cooling feature to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might experience some discomfort if you are treating a more sensitive area, such as along the bikini line. If you find it too uncomfortable, let us know and we'll adjust the settings accordingly.
-
How will I feel after my treatment? You may feel like you have a slight sunburn around the treatment area, but this should disappear after 1-2 days max. You can use a cold compress to cool the area if needed. You may also see some hairs fall more easily in the days following your treatment, this is completely normal. Some people may also experience what appears to be a mild itchy rash. It's also normal, it's just the skin's response to energy. The redness and itching will subside within a few days. Cold compresses or antibiotic ointment can help speed up the healing process.
-
How long will the results last and are they permanent? It depends on how your hair grows. Some people may see longer-lasting hair removal, while others who see sporadic hair growth in the area and may need a touch-up treatment to maintain results.
-
Is there a recovery time? You can resume your daily schedule immediately after your laser treatment
-
Should I do anything after my treatment?Be sure to gently cleanse the treated area twice a day and apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 before going outside; however, avoid excessive sun exposure. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct skin contact for the first 2 days after your treatment. Also, avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after.
